Prior to his stay in Big Brother #ShineYaEye season 6, Whitemoney, narrated his emotional story about his struggles and suffering to his fellow housemates as they gathered to play a late-night game of “pick and act” on August 12th.

Whitemoney told the housemates about how he was homeless and stayed under the famous Ojuelegba bridge back in 2013 and sometimes juggled an uncomplete building just for a place to sleep.

In his words

“I didn’t have a house, I didn’t have anything, only hand work like barbing. Ojuelegba bridge was literally my home. I go out in the morning and don’t know where I’m going to,”.

“I didn’t know where my life was going, when I came to Lagos, I came like a ‘Big Boy’ I came to Lagos with money, and I couldn’t go back because of crisis in the north and I was forced to stay back in Lagos,” .

“I was born and raised in the north. I was already making money as a barber in the north, then I came to Lagos after someone I worked with on her album called me to come for the video shoot,”.

“So, I came in and we shot the video and I decided I couldn’t go back to Kaduna, besides it was around when the last crisis happened, so everything was burnt and scattered, and there was nothing to go back to”.

Whitemoney remembered how he started to live under the Ojuelegba bridge after he was sent packing from the house he squatted in for a month.

The family that accommodated him for a month told him that he had to leave because their father was coming back. So, that was why he started staying at Ojuelegba under the bridge.

He further explained that ‘Makinde’ was a street in Ojuelegba where the king of the touts stayed, so he literally lived with him there.

Whitemoney said that the way he pooped then was like he would poop in a nylon, because the house he stayed in with the barber that helped him did not have a toilet. So they always excreted in the carnal, but he was not comfortable to use the carnal with them, so he bought a lot of black nylons, and the ladies upstairs in the house would literally see him excreting butt naked.

He said that when he does it, he would wrap it and throw it away. This went on for a long time. According to him, people who knew him even when he didn’t have a kobo of his own would not know that he sleeps under the bridge and uncompleted building, because he always dressed nice and looked good.

He went on to also tell the housemates how in 2015, he got his first sponsored deal of 1.5Million Naira, which was able to help him drop his songs and move out of the bridge.

He said that he left Kaduna for Lagos after he was invited to the commercial city by a musician he had helped with her album.

That was how he struggled until he got to his feet and became a renowned celebrity, and he has decided to pay a memorable visit to the place of his little beginning.
